Eighth small stone: Pyrocantha Surprise

The pyrocantha shines with color, gold and green leaves, red berries.  I step up close and seven brown wrens explode from the bush, chittering.  Surprise!  More than meets the eye.

Thank you, Laura! I was startled, but pleased with the outpouring of LBJ's (little brown jobs, after Roger Tory Peterson, the bird book guy).
XoXo, Laura

Such a bright serendipitous picture and event!

Hi Searching serendipity,
It was serendipitous! I love that word too. A couple summers ago on Monomoy Island off Cape Cod, a guide told us egrets were "crepuscular" and we would need to surprise them out of the trees where they were perched if we wanted to see them at midday. We did, and they burst out of the tree just as we walked up to it. Wow, ten egrets taking off at once right next to us was indeed surprising, but because we expected it, I guess it wasn't serendipitous (doesn't it have to be unpredicted good luck?) cheers, Laura
