Alphabetaphilia wild cards: Feb 27, 28, and 29

Hi friends,

If you want to play Alphabetaphilia on the last three days of February (and I hope you do), you have to choose a different letter for each day, but it's your choice of all 26.  I know you  probably had days when you could have made a list of 100 words...go back and redo those letters and have more fun.  Five words and a sentence on the wild card letter of your choice for each day.  I am leaving the post this way and you may post here three times with three different letters in the comments.

best,
Laura

Many animals appear able to appeal even after infancy.

duckling, down, daffodils, definite, digging, dirt, dandelions, dotting

Soft yellow duckling down, daffodils and dandelions dotting the lawn are definite signs of spring, along with digging in the dirt.

terse, typed, tacked, tired, traffic

The unmarried, early middle-aged woman removed the terse, typed note that had been tacked onto the front door of her porch, then took it in her tired hands to re-read it, nodding her head slowly in agreement with the admonition citing her illegal traffic patterns on the one-way street, but wondering why the letter was anonymously signed, "from your neighbors," since she'd thought they were her friends, whom she called by name, face to face.

posed, poised, personal, pastime, porch, petite, piquant, power

Posed and poised for her persoanl pastime of porch-sitting, the petite, wizened black lady was someone I looked forward to seeing each day, but on that day, with my head bowed, eyes focused downward and my mind full of the most recent tug-of-war with our teen-- I was in another world--I didn't see her at all; but Miss Sallie, sitting in her honey-colored chair on her gray Calvert Street porch, saw me, sized up the situation, and crooned, "Hello, Sugah," and I immediately inwardly swooned, stopped by the sweetness of the piquant power of the Lazarus-dip of the tip of her finger, cooled, yet warmed, all at the same time.

Laura, this is a correction. Please post this one instead of the first one. Thanks!

nephrologist, neatly, nephrons, nephrotic, naive,nearly

The nephrologist neatly explained how the nephrons were damaged, causing nephrotic syndrome, shattering our naive outlook on life, nearly taking away our hope, but we found comfort and community at the Nephcure organization.

macaroons, made, make, maudlin, maybe, mayonnaise, mistake, more

Maybe the macaroons WERE made with mayonnaise by mistake, but getting maudlin about it won't make them any more edible.

gutted, grief, girl, gaps, grew, gripped, grown, grandson, giant

Gutted by grief after the death of her parents when she was 15, the girl's gaps created by loss grew, hooked into other empty places, and gripped her hard after 43 years, making her grown daughter's criticism over her grandson's fried egg grow to giant proportions in her mind.

When we went west, the weather was weird, whether or not workers wanted it that way.

Also (apologies, but can't resist) -
After being cold during every February, girls have intense joy knowing light makes new outdoor pleasures quite real; soon to upend vengeful winter’s xenophobia, youthful zeal.

Thank you, Laura! This has been fun.

faced, fear, filled, frightened, friends, fawn, faithfully, fellowship,

Faced with death, fear filled me, friends heard my frightened, fawn-like call and faithfully surrounded me with fellowship.

Laura, this has been the best activity, I do hope you'll consider it again for 2013. Many thanks.

I've loved it, too, and hate to see it end! Thanks!
